My son just turned two and suddenly he seemed more like a little man than a baby. My boy was growing up fast and I was seriously behind on keeping up on his room decor for his age. Plus I always love a project (correction, I love the idea of a project, the actual work I leave mostly to my mom).
Naturally I started with my favourite go to site, Pinterest and typed in toddler room ideas and there it was, I knew immediately what the theme would be “little man cave” with signs, and animals and all kinds of fun things for his room.
Next step, call mom and share my thoughts. Before I knew it, we had a shared board on Pinterest “toddler room ideas” and funny enough we pretty much picked out the same pins.
With a quick trip to Hobby Lobby in the states most of the signs were purchased, but there was one thing missing, a bear rug. I searched high and low and found one on etsy but I couldn’t bear (pun intended) to pay $170 for it. So I challenged my mom to make one.
The next day I receive a picture of my mom in an awful looking fur jacket (fake fur of course) and I’m thinking what is she up to now that crazy thrifter. “Well she said, I was in the Goodwill and saw this fur coat and thought that would make a nice bear rug”. Hours later, I receive the next photo, low and behold it was EXACTLY what I wanted and more, a bear rug perfect for my big boys room. It even had a cute big white nose (compliments of my dads never worn, brand new tennis socks turned inside out), cute brown eyes, little ears and of course white claws.
So with the bear rug complete, accessories purchased all that is left is rearranging the room oh and why not add painting mountains on the wall to complete the look (that’s still to come…stay tuned for the big reveal of my sons little man cave room).
I’d say it was yet another successful on the thrift project, well done mom as always!

Haha, impressive work indeed!! Always best to stay on the computer making websites and leave the work to your mum 😆👍👏

Truly amazing. You two make a great team. You figure out what you want and she does it Can’t get better than that especially as you truly appreciate her skills. So impressive. I think the bear is my favorite.

Thank you A. Margaret. The bear is definitely my favourite. I couldn’t stop laughing at her with the giant faux fur coat on. Leave it to my mom to come up with that idea. 😂
