It always amazes me what people throw to the curb. Last year my neighbour tossed out 3 gorgeous ceramic planter pots that were probably worth $50+ each. Luckily I saw them first and snapped them up and now they sit on my front porch with pretty plants in them.
But nothing beats finding something with my mom, it always inspires a fun new project or craft idea.
It was “big” garage day in brights grove which really means free thrift day in our books. I drove down in the F150, plenty of room in case of a good find on the curb side. I was actually searching for a wooden box of some sort that could be transformed into an art box for my little guy. I hate markers, crayons, paper, craft stuff, glue etc. all over my house so this sparked the need for a craft box. Funny enough, can you believe it, we found the perfect item on the curb side. It looked home made, I wasn’t quite sure what it had been used for, but I did know what it’s future purpose would be.

So we rushed home with it all excited about the potential our new find had. I’m not really sure what happened, but our motivation was lost and a few weeks had passed and our amazing find was sitting lonely in the garage with no inspiration in site. I hate to admit, I even forgot about it. But luckily my mother was bored and in need of a new project. So naturally she returned to the lonely wooden box sitting in her garage with hope of giving it a new lease of life.
A day or two later, up pops a message on my phone from my mother. “Guess what I just finished” she said all excited, “your craft box” she yelled her message with lots of !!!!! points. I couldn’t believe my eyes, the once lonely box sitting in the garage was now transferred into a perfect art box that would sit in my sunroom for all of my sons arts and crafts. I couldn’t wait get my hands on it.
Not only did she paint the box, she found fun stickers to put on it and even made it’s own cushion so it could double as a seat. Now how creative is that. It was $15 well spent between paint and material and of course the wooden box was free.
Welcome home little craft box who now sits in a room basking in the sun full of arts and crafts!
